The faculty
of the Mathematics and Natural Science Department offer a assortment
of courses to meet the needs of the diverse student body at Kapi'olani
Community College. Health Sciences, Nursing, Biotechnology, Exercise
and Sports Science, Engineering, and Sleep Science are just some
of the specialized programs offered or supported by the department.
Liberal Arts students, in programs offered by other departments
in the College, enroll in math and science courses to fulfill specific
core requirements. Many of our students choose to begin their college
education at KCC with plans to transfer to 4-year degree programs
at the University of Hawai'i Manoa, or other UH campuses or colleges
within the State. Most of the courses offered by the Mathematics
and Natural Science Department are transferable within the University
of Hawai'i system. Transfer of credit to other schools is usually
possible but not assured.
Our faculty
members enthusiastically serve the students, the College and the
community to aid the development of a scientifically literate and
logical citizenry that objectively analyzes, examines, and evaluates
the activities and impacts of science, and also understands and
appreciates the complexity and diversity of mathematical reasoning
and scientific endeavors.
