Programs > Health > Nursing > Registered Nurse (ADN) Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)The Associate Degree Program is a career ladder program which offers two ways to become a registered nurse. The ADN-New curriculum is for individuals with no previous nursing education. It can be completed in two years after the prerequisites are met. The Associate in Science Degree (ADN) Nursing Program prepares graduates for the National Council of Licensure Examination for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN) and to perform as entry level registered nurses. This is a career ladder program. After the first semester of this program, students are eligible to take the state Nurses Aide Certification Examination. After the first year and completing the pediatric nursing course, they are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN examination to become a licensed practical nurse. The ADN-LPN (ANURS-LPN) curriculum is for Licensed Practical Nurses who have a year of nursing experience. This program be completed in three semesters after prerequisites are met. The program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Council (NLNAC) and approved by the Hawaii State Board of Nursing. Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for admission into the upper division of the RN/BS Nursing Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
