Course Templates
Here you can find many of the patient care form templates you need for
your courses. Click on the one you want and it will either open on your
computer screen (PCs), or give you the choice of downloading (Saving)
it to your computer's desktop. You then use the template each time you
do your care report, self-evaluation or paper. http://leahi.kcc.hawaii.edu/nursing/templates
OnLine
Resources
- Create
a UH Email Account. If
you don't already have a UH email address, sign up now. Even if you
use AOL, Road Runner or Hotmail, its a good idea to open a UH account
since its the address other UH students and faculty will be able to
find. If you want to pick up your mail at only one address, you can
forward your UH email to your other account, or vice versa. Having an
account is also a condition to getting your own web site. http://www.hawaii.edu/help/accounts/idreqinfo.html
- Useful
UH UNIX commands.
This page has simple instructions for managing your UH email/web account.
It gives you the commands for forwarding your mail, findingout how much
space you have left in your account, and changing your password. Print
it and keep it handy. http://leahi.kcc.hawaii.edu/unix.html
- Create
a Free UH Web Page
Here is the link to create your own website. This skill becomes handy
when you want to share helpful information with classmates, and for
learning to create your own web pages. In the future you can create
educational pages for your patients and peers. Warning, setting up your
account so you can do web pages is a little mysterious at first. Print
this instructional page and follow it CAREFULLY step by step. http://www.hawaii.edu/personalhp/
Medical
Libraries
- Hawaii
Medical Library
As ADN and PN students, you have a membership to the Hawaii Medical
Library paid for by the College. Use this resource often. It has most
of the major nursing journals, books and CD-ROM databases. You can locate
resources online as well as on site. http://www.hml.org/
- Kapi'olani
Community College Library
KCC has a beautiful library with most of the major nursing journals.
Go through the library orientation so you can use it efficiently. Check
out the online sources for those wee hours of the morning when you are
working on your papers and preparing for your next day's patient care.

- UH
Library
Click here to access the new Hawaii Voyager library service for the
University of Hawaii. Take a few minutes to go through the tutorial
to become more efficient in your search. Perhaps the most efficient
resource for you is the Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health
Literature (CINAHL). Unfortunately you have to be in the library to
use this database, but it is worth exploring. It focuses on nursing
and health science articles. Your KCC library card number may be necessary
to access some of the reference databases.
