Explanation
Of Admission Requirements
Item 1:UH
System Application Form (SAF)
If you
are new to KCC or will return after being out a semester, you must fill
out the System wide Application Form (SAF) List your major as: NAT
Item 2:
Application
for Selective Admission Program (ASAP)
This form
is used to track your application. All students, whether new, transferring
or continuing students must complete the ASAP form. List your Program
Choice as NAT.
Item 3:
Reading Ability
Use one
of these two ways to meet the minimum math and reading requirements:
Option
1: Compass Placement Test - A Compass
Placement Test score of 61 or credit in ENG 21 is
required to get into the NA program.
- Obtain
the Compass Placement Test form at the KISC Office, 'Ilima 102 or
at the Testing Center in 'Iliahi 127.
- Take
the Compass Placement Test Form and a photo ID with your social security
number to 'Iliahi 127 (Testing Center).
- After
completing the test, take a copy of your test results to the KISC
Office in 'Ilima 202 and ask them to put it in your file. If you have
not applied yet, hold the rest results and attach it to your Application
form when you do.
- Placement
Test deadline for this program is April 1 for Fall admission. Test
scores from other campuses must be received by the K.C.C. KISC Office
by that date.
The
Compass Placement Test can be taken every 120 days. If more than
one test is taken, the highest score will be used. The Compass Test
is not a timed test and you can take the Reading test on one day
and the Math on another.
Come
prepared to stay awhile if you need the time. You may want to take
one of the Brush Up reading classes before you take the placement
test.
Option
2: Waiver of Placement Test by Course Completion (in lieu of testing)
If you
took ENG 21 and earned a "C" or higher within the past 10
years, you do not need to take the Reading test.
If you
took it at a campus other than KCC, request official transcripts from
colleges other than KCC to be sent directly to the KISC Office in
'Ilima 102.
If there
are any questions regarding the acceptability of the course, it is recommended
that you take the tests rather than risk denial due to inadequate course
work taken elsewhere.
Item 4:
Attendance at the Mandatory Nurse Aide Training Orientation
Acceptance
All applicants
who have met the minimum requirements are accepted until the course quota
if filled (10 per section).
