Students must achieve a minimum grade of 70% in tests & other requirements in both Medical Billing I and Medical Billing II in order to earn this certificate of competence.

Part I of Medical Billing enables you to define terminology pertaining to medical billing, understand compliance issues, correctly use medical and surgical terms, and gives you practical knowledge of Vol. I & II of ICD-9CM. Discuss the CPT-4 format and index and three levels of HCPCS coding conventions, search for various HCPCS codes, and much more. Students are highly recommended to bring their own copy of the following books (older editions okay) to class: CPT (Professional or Standard version), HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM.
