CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCE in MEDICAL BILLING

The issuance of this certificate requires that the student’s work has been evaluated and determined to be satisfactory. The student must achieve a minimum grade of 70% in tests & other requirements in both courses (Medical Billing I and Medical Billing II) in order to earn this certificate of competence.

Part II of Medical Billing continues teaching practical skills in all aspects of medical billing incorporating textbook and case study scenarios, completing the HCFA 1500 claim form for all major insurance carriers, and applying fundamental concepts from Part I. Students are highly recommended to bring their own copy of the following books (older editions okay) to class: CPT (Professional or Standard version), HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM. You may purchase these books at any bookstore or website, or by calling JEL Enterprises at 678-8636. Satisfactory completion of Medical Billing I and II results in a Certificate of Competence.
