CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCE in MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY

The issuance of this certificate requires that the student’s work has been evaluated and determined to be satisfactory. The student must achieve a minimum grade of 70% in tests and other requirements in order to earn this certificate of competence.

The Introductory class and the Advanced class have been combined to form one Medical Terminology course. This course is for individuals with little or no medical training and who need to upgrade their skills and advance their knowledge in order to work more effectively with medical documents. It uses the word building system and includes terminology related to the body systems, plurals of medical terms, abbreviations, medications, and surgical and diagnostic procedures. It prepares students for the Professional Medical Coding course.
