‘Ohana Chronicles: Documenting History

Gather resources to make your family, personal, or community history come to life on DVD! This workshop will introduce various methods of documenting life using photos, film, and historical documents. You will gain insight into resources in the community that will enhance your interview, camera, and editing skills to complete a professional project. We will discuss free photo and video editing software and you will see sample video of photo journaling, documenting elder and family history, and making movies out of exciting travel adventures – the possibilities are endless! No experience necessary.

Instructor: Janette Sargent-Hamill holds a BA in Gerontology and is an Independent Filmmaker. She has worked in the field of aging since 1994 and has been producing documentaries since 1996. Janette’s vision is to share her passion and resources with everyone who would like to preserve the personal history of an elder, the dying words of a loved one, or record the tantalizing tales of a community. Anyone can do this with a little guidance and support. It is important that we get started!
