Intermediate Studio Lighting

Presuming the student learned well from an introductory course in electronic studio lighting, this next class essentially presents the next level. This course will give more detailed and specific techniques and present new tools used for lighting different subjects. For example, food lighting is quite complicated. Portraiture offers most innovative lighting opportunities that always challenge the imagination. This course will also stress that “As you grasp more and more of the technical capability of electronic lighting, you will have to use imagination to light, and thus hone the quality of lighting on your subject.” Knowledge of PhotoShop will be stressed. The instructor will guide, but the student will be asked to imagine and do more.

Instructor: David Cornwell graduated from the University of Michigan with multiple degrees in fine art. Based in Hawai‘i, David’s commercial photography assignments have taken him to domestic and international locations, frequently to create images of resorts and architecture. Some of his clients include the Hawai‘i Convention Center, Microsoft, Coca Cola, Dr. Pepper, Ocean Spray Cranberries, Polynesian Cultural Center, Alaska Visitors Bureau, Life Magazine, National Geographic Magazine, Ritz Carlton, Kahala Hotel & Resort, Victoria Ward Properties, Top of Waikiki Restaurant, and Sheraton Hotels.
